Thalictrum aquilegiifolium 'Fluffy'

Meadow-rue

There are very few plants for shade that look quite as stunning as the Thalictrum family. Usually shade lovers like to hug the ground but this plant is tall and sturdy.

'Fluffy' (how can you resist?) has clouds of pink and white flowers that float on wiry stems that do not require staking.

The foliage resembles that of Aquilegia but is much more substantial.

Thalictrum are lovers of humus rich, moist soil but will also grow on clay if the drainage has been improved with some compost and grit mixed in.

They are slowish spreaders and benefit from being divided every few years.

An indispensable plant for a shaded area.
