Stipa calamagrostis

Silver spike grass

A slender, arching mid-height Stipa that is elegant and graceful displaying an extremely fine texture in both foliage and flowers.

A mature clump resembles an exuberant and playful fountain with leaves forming lovely curved shapes as the tips bend towards the ground.

The tactile dark cream coloured blossoms appear relatively early, from late June onwards, and last well into the winter.

A very adaptable grass that can grow in part shade to full sun preferring moist, well drained, fertile soil  although will tolerate poor soil given water. Beautiful.
