Spiranthes odorata 'Chadds Ford'

This little terrestrial orchid is worth owning, not just for its elegance but for its most intense and delicious fragrance, a blend of jasmine and vanilla.

A moisture loving bog garden plant, it is one of the easier terrestrial orchids to grow.

Rich, fertile, moist or wet soil will suit as long as the site is not stagnant.

Partial shade is acceptable or they can be grown in sun with adequate moisture.

Plants almost double in size every year; the tips of their roots curve upward and produce new plants, a characteristic unique to Spiranthes among orchids.
