Scabiosa columbaria 'Misty butterflies'

Small scabious

Scabious are adored by butterflies, bees and many other insects that are beneficial for the garden.

Although relatively short lived plants they tend to seed themselves around but not so profusely that they become troublesome. 'Misty Butterflies' is a an easy to grow cultivar that  produces plenty of lavender blue flowers from midsummer onwards.

Plant in free draining soil which is kept on the dry side and protect from winter wet.

Scabious also like a lime based soil so grow well on chalk and gravelly areas.
