Sanguisorba tenuifolia var. 'Alba'

Oriental burnet

Tall, willowy and very elegant this is a plant that compliments naturalistic styles of gardening.

A fine accent plant amongst grasses and taller perennials such as Verbena and Rudbeckia.

The foliage is fine and pinnate, forming tidy round clumps but the catkin like flowerheads are the real scene stealers rising high above on wiry stems.

Despite this ethereal nature, Sanguisorba are very tough surviving temperatures down to -20ºC.

They like some moisture particularly whilst they establish and will flop in burning hot sun. They are not drought tolerant. A mulch in early spring is beneficial.
