Salvia nemorosa 'Blue Queen'
An easy to grow, hardy salvia with a compact habit and abundant flowers.
Bees adore this small aromatic plant which throws up many spikelets of rich blue-violet flowers from midsummer onwards.
The colour is dark and intense, very effective when dotted in clumps through more pastel shades.
For the Salvia novice this is a good introduction to the genus as it requires minimal attention and very little maintenance.
Although not that fussy about soil, the ideal is well drained in full sun. The plant should receive a moderate amount of water to establish.
A tidy up in spring but otherwise can be left to its own devices.
