Polemonium yezoense var. hidakanum 'Purple Rain'
Jacob's ladder
After many years of selective cultivation 'Purple Rain' is a most beautiful and unusual variety of Jacob's Ladder, descended from a batch of seeds collected from Hokkaido in North Japan. This is a distinctive plant that forms a lush mound of ferny foliage in a stunning black-purple shade.
Upright stems of soft, purple-blue, phlox-like flowers bloom from late spring to early summer. Deadhead to prolong the flowering season.
It grows best in full sun or part shade with its roots in cool, moist, humusy soil.
A very versatile, eye catching cultivar that works as a foil for hot colours or as a feature in its own right.
