Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji Blue'
Balloon flower
Small but beautiful, this Balloon flower is a charming addition to the front of any border or rock garden.
The foliage is bluish green but relatively insignificant as it is dwarfed by the large bell shaped flowers that really do seem to blow up from the balloon shaped buds.
Native to the harsher regions of Siberia and Manchuria these delicate looking plants are super tough but do resent being disturbed. Slugs and snails really enjoy munching on the young shoots so protect them until the clumps are established or surround with a sharp grit mulch.
