Penstemon digitalis 'Husker's Red'
Foxglove beardtongue
‘Husker's Red' is a strong growing, vigorous Penstemon with luscious semi-evergreen foliage.
The maroon, upright stems shoot up in spring and are decked out in dark, red-toned leaves, these turn a bright, fresh green as they mature. In early summer, white foxglove-like flowers mass above the deep coloured foliage creating quite a show.
'Husker's Red' is more tolerant of variable conditions that most of the genus but for best results grow in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid wet, poorly drained soils.
Makes a good cut flower and performs well in containers.
