Monarda hybrida 'Prairie Night'

Bee balm

Beebalm is a traditional favorite for the perennial border with a striking display of richly coloured flowers through the summer months. This older German selection features deep mauve to rosy-purple flowers, arranged in large, shaggy heads.

The foliage is delightfully fragrant and all parts of the plant attract pollinators.

Monarda are prone to powdery mildew but regular watering and good air circulation should prevent this.

Named for Nicholas Monarda (1493-1588), a renowned botanist of Seville.
