Lysimachia clethroides 'Lady Jane'

Gooseneck loosestrife

Native to China and Japan this plant can also be found in Russia, Korea and North America where it grows at the edges of woodland, in damp pastures and moist pockets on mountain slopes,  300–2000 metres above sea level.

Very adaptable, dependable and super tough, plants prefer deep, rich loam and sheltered positions and when given perfect conditions will spread with vigour.

Unless held in check by container planting this Loosestrife is only suitable for medium to large gardens. That said it has an RHS-AGM and looks stunning when in flower.

Towards the end of summer pointy spires of pure white, star shaped flowers burst out above lush dark green foliage. These spikes then twist, turn and bend into the shape of a goose neck. Think shepherds crook.

Hugely eye-catching and very unusual when seen en masse.

Divide every 3 years to keep in check.
