Lobelia speciosa 'Tania'
A tall perennial for moist soils and bog gardens. The upright stems are covered in purple tinted, green leaves and unusual flowers of a very rich dark pink.
It flowers over a long period from midsummer until well into the autumn.
As the flowers fade, cut off the top growth to produce new but smaller blooms from the leaf axils below. Cut the stalks off completely when new basal growth is evident.
A winter mulch to prevent stem rot is recommended. Slugs could be a problem with the fleshy stems so protect until established.
