Lillium formosum 'Pricei f. album'

Formosa lily

A native of Taiwan but hardy in UK gardens.

This is quite gorgeous and very fragrant. Very long purple striped buds open into enormous white trumpet shaped flowers which flare outwards.

The flower stems can reach a metre high above tidy lance shaped foliage.

They can be planted in any well drained border but ours are in a tall planter near where we sit of a summer's evening. That's when the perfume is most intense. Towards dusk, they are covered in moths attracted by the scent.

Every seating area should have a tub of fragrant plants and these are just outstanding.
