Lilium philippinense
Philippine lily
An exquisite, quite rare but tender lily from the Philippines.
A tall specimen growing up to a metre with beautiful trumpet shaped white flowers that hang downwards. These are nicely flared with a green throat.
The fragrance is overwhelming.
Unfortunately this will not withstand cold so is a perfect candidate for growing in a container that can be overwintered indoors.
They prefer a light, well drained soil that has had lime added to the soil. It grows in coralline limestone on Luzon Island, its natural habitat.
