Kniphofia rooperi

Rooper's red-hot poker

Impressive, stately, architectural - yep, all of those.

A late flowering and large red hot poker with big, egg-shaped flowers that will keep going until severe frosts cut them down. One of the largest blooms in this underrated genus.

If your garden looks a bit drab by the end of the summer then prolong the interest with one of these.

K. rooperi is evergreen, with robust arching leaves that are dark green and taper to a point. The flowers are magnificent, starting out as orange-red then turning the characteristic bi-coloured orange and orange-yellow. Fabulous with autumn foliage.

Needs a little shelter from strong winds but otherwise hardy to -10ºC
