Iris Louisiana 'Black Gamecock'
Louisiana iris
The most stunningly, beautiful iris in the world. That's our view on this vigorous and robust perennial that seems to be indestructible. Growing 60cm wide and 80cm tall, the sword-like fresh green leaves make for superb foliage in any moist location but it's the flowers that are the lure.
We've been reeled in by the rich midnight-purple colour, sumptuously velvety petals and the deliciously decadent form.
A voluptuous southern belle comprised of three standards (upper petals) and three falls (lower petals) with each fall having a linear gold marking at its base.
The warmer the location the more flowers are produced. Give them a rich, fertile swamp and they'll grow with great vigour.
Totally captivating.
