Hystrix patula

Bottlebrush grass

As the common name implies the seed-heads of this lovely grass are shaped like a bottle brush, although they are too fine for cleaning out the empties.

It is a cool season grass that actively grows during the spring and autumn when soil temperatures are low.

Bottlebrush Grass dislikes hot sun and is best planted in shady areas to provide texture and interest under trees.

Perfect for light woodland. Deciduous.
