Hyssopus officinalis 'Alba'
A perennial herb that can be used as a low growing hedge, a formal border edge or as a pretty accent amongst other aromatic plants such as lavender.
It tolerates clipping so can be used as an alternative to box. Thriving in poor, hot conditions it flowers for months, attracting many beneficial insects to the tiny tubular flowers.
It releases a strong camphor like perfume and once extracted, the volatile oil is used to flavour Benedictine and Chartreuse. An infusion of the dried leaves makes a restorative tea.
Very low maintenance except for cutting back hard in spring to keep it in shape and fresh.
