Heuchera sanguinea 'Firefly' (Leuchtkafer)

Coral bells

Fragrant, vermillion red flowers are the main attraction of this Heuchera.

Often considered foliage or ground cover plants 'Firefly' has been bred specifically for the blooms which make excellent cut flowers too. There are nearly fifty species of Heuchera and they are all native to the USA. H. sanguinea grows in the south-west and is noted for the intensity of its flower colour that is wildly attractive to hummingbirds.

Despite this exotic origin, ‘Firefly’ is a hardy plant that remains almost evergreen. The rounded, fresh green basal rosettes form tidy mounds that can be preened in spring and the plants remain healthier if divided every 3 - 4 years.

Grow in evenly moist well drained soil in full sun to part shade.
