Eustachys distichophylla

Weeping fingergrass

Originally from Argentina, Weeping Fingergrass is a sub-tropical rather elegant grass with overhanging, fan shaped inflorescences on long sturdy stems.

The flowers change from  light grey to dark brown above the pink tinged broad leaves that look like splayed fingers.

It requires a well-drained soil in a sheltered warm spot. Although tolerant of cold down to -5, we would not take the risk of our winters killing it off. Instead,  move it indoors where it makes a splendid pot plant.
