Euphorbia cyparissias 'Fen's Ruby'

Cypress spurge

A spreading, often invasive ground cover plant for difficult sites. It can be extremely rampant, spreading by underground rhizomes that extend far from the original plant.

When planted wisely, it's very useful and will cover a dry bank of ground in no time at all. Planted in a mixed herbaceous border it will smother more delicate specimens and make life more difficult.

The delicate, feathery foliage belies its tough nature. The flowers lack petals and sepals, and primarily consist of showy lime-yellow bracts which age to red. Very attractive.

Like all members of the Euphorbia genus it has a milky white sap that can cause allergic reactions.
