Echinops ritro (L.)
Blue globe thistle
The big, blue one.
Although a thistle, these tall, spiky eye catching plants are very decorative and rather well behaved. An excellent choice for diversifying shape and texture as their bold outline adds an architectural touch to any type of planting scheme.
The steel blue colour lasts well for cutting and drying but wear gloves when handling as they are prickly. Consequently, rabbits are not that keen on them.
Good for a country garden.
