Dracocephalum rupestre

Dragon’s Head

This is a useful little plant endemic to China which has dark grey leaves with large handsome blue flowers on crowded stems.

The entire plant is a fine sight for weeks in midsummer as the flowers last for quite a while. Both flowers and foliage emit a strong lemon fragrance.

It spreads by underground rhizomes and makes fine ground-cover for very well drained soils, rockeries or gravel gardens in full sun.
