Coreopsis grandiflora 'Tetra Giants'
Tickseed
Tickseed is the common name of Coreopsis as the seed is supposed to resemble a bug or a tick.
This is a far less important feature than the plant's golden flowers that bloom in profusion from June onwards.
It benefits from vigorous deadheading, if you can keep up, prolonging flowering well into early autumn.
Over time, it forms a robust clump that is easily lifted and divided in spring. Very attractive to all manner of pollinators this is a tall, robust plant that just yells summertime and reminds you to get out the Pimms.
