Cirsium rivulare 'Pink Beauty'
Always a bone of contention, this one. One half of Blackstem Plants thinks this is just a thistle worthy of strimming, the other half maintains that it is an excellent plant for pollinators with masses of creamy white flowers tinged a rich Barbie pink by the colourful stamens.
Okay, the foliage is nothing special and the flowers are best trimmed back after the heads are spent, but it has undeniable charm.
Planted in a wild setting this will gently spread and give weeks of food for the bees and other foraging insects. Warning: Marriage guidance counselling may be needed after planting.
