Chelone lyonii 'Pink temptation'

Turtlehead, Shellflower

Chelone are very useful plants for damp, fertile shade where their strong growth and weather resistant flowers provide much needed colour, particularly during late summer.

Most grow quite tall but 'Pink Temptation’ has been bred for it's more compact habit so is suited to the front of the border.

Coming from moist woodland, prairies and mountains of North America, Chelone are dependable and very hardy even growing in heavy clay and bog gardens. The only downside is that slugs and snails see them as a filling snack.

Brilliant pink flowers, compact habit, wide dark green foliage - this is an elegant clump former that doesn't run all over the garden as some of it's larger cousins are apt to do.
