Aruncus aethusifolius 'Noble spirit'
Korean goat's beard
A truly indispensable perennial for damp shade that is easy to grow and very hardy.
From Korea, it's a miniature form of its larger and more unwieldy relative, Aruncus dioicus.
The foliage is tightly packed and finely cut forming dense mounds of the freshest green above bright red stems. A profusion of fluffy, creamy-white spikes rise 30cm above and resemble the flowers of Astilbe. In autumn the foliage turns golden and the flowers a chestnut brown.
Plant this with hardy geraniums, epimediums or hostas.
Slow growing but charming.
