Aquilegia vulgaris 'Leprechaun Gold' (V)
Columbine
Pendant deep purple flowers contrast rather spectacularly with the mottled and marbled variegated leaves of this lovely aquilegia.
The leaves can be many shades of green - from light chartreuse to damp mossy tones. Dark coloured stems enhance the effect.
This plant is very useful for containers but to keep the foliage looking pert, it should be trimmed hard when ragged to allow for fresh growth.
