Aloe aristata

Lace aloe

A small, evergreen, flowering perennial from the Drakensburg Mountains of South Africa.

We've grown these outdoors in a pot for years and they've withstood many cold and  frosty nights however too much water and they rot.  We move them to a dry spot and cover them with fleece when conditions are very severe. Drainage is all important, so we plant them in grit mixed with a little compost.

They multiply rapidly and reliably flower every year with virtually no attention.

Super dry or xeriscape gardens are perfect for this arresting little plant. Also an easy care houseplant.

Due to over collecting they are becoming rare in their native habitat.
