Adenophora bulleyana

Lady bells

Resembling Campanulas when in flower, these ethereal plants originate from the high altitude grasslands of Western China.

Tall, upright stems covered in nodding, light blue flowers poke up in late summer from rounded, mid-green basal leaves.

They loathe root disturbance, so once planted, mark the spot carefully to avoid accidental intrusion.

Adenophora love moist, humus rich soil. Perfect for the edge of light woodland or a border that receives partial shade.

Pretty, delicate and very unusual.
